St Columba’s Women

Voices for the Future
VIRTUAL CHOIR PROJECT
Nov 23rd – Dec 7th 2021

A short extra project to round off the year with a Christmassy feel! The Virtual Choir will be singing “Jesus Christ the Apple Tree” by Elizabeth Poston as part of a British Sign Language interpreted celebration of the life of St Columba, on the 1,500th Anniversary of his birth.

In this unique event, performed by electric voice theatre, we weave music and story telling around the life story of this much mythologized saint, connecting him to the women in his life and after his death. All of the music is by women composers and our special guest will be Sandy NicDhòmhnaill Jones, Gaelic Crowned Bard 2019-2021

We have 2 x Tuesday sessions at 6.30pm, an extra rehearsal to be arranged and the performance.
You can catch up with missed sessions on videos below each week and word sheets, music scores and sound files will be available directly.
